I'm an encouraging and fun-loving instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of musical theatre. I graduated from The Boston Conservatory last year with a BFA in Musical Theatre. I have done a small amount of touring with a small jazz ensemble but I'm not gigging currently, but being versatile , experienced and having formal training help make learning music a pleasure and joyful experience easy, stress free and fun, and, that is especially what beginning and aspiring students need. The beginning concepts of music are easy to learn, I.E. the musical alphabet, how notes climb on each instrument...Hearing the note in your head before you play....then actually play them ... I began teaching when I was in middle school when I got the opportunity to assistant direct theater workshops in my town. I was hooked and for my Girl Scout Gold Award in high school, I ran a theater company for children of social service recipients. In college, I tutored struggling music theory and piano students and felt it was the perfect way to use my enthusiasm for music in a positive way beyond teaching. Read More

Regular practice, especially for younger students, is essential as it helps to create a progressive connection to their instrument. I've found that selecting music WITH my student, and not just assigning work that I want them to like, goes a long way in helping students enjoy singing and motivates them to practice and continue to learn. While my students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, my priority above all is to make sure students are having fun in their lessons (otherwise I'm not doing my job!). Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
The student will learn music theory and of course also how to sing or play the piano. I always use a combination of what the student needs and also what the student wants to play. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. Read More

I started teaching towards the end of high school and continued in college and beyond! I found it beneficial to be teaching students while still being a student myself. Having great teachers in my life has shaped my own approach to teaching. I discovered that when I was able to study what I was truly excited about, my capacity to learn and improve my craft increased exponentially! To that end, I encourage students to bring in original material as well as "covers" that they are interested in to build a repertoire. Read More
