My teaching experience goes back to when I started my undergraduate studies at Cal Lutheran. I began taking on students from my high school simply as a way to give back and help students with upcoming auditions. I made it a point to develop a consistent practice regimen consisting of warm-ups, fundamentals, and solo work. Hello and welcome, my name is Evan, and I am so happy that you chose to look at my profile. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Syracuse University in 1998. I minored in the Music Industry and performed with the Marching Band, Basketball Pep Band, co-founded a lacrosse band, and became a Brother of Kappa Kappa Psi, the National Honorary Band Fraternity. I received both a Masters and a Law Degree from Syracuse in 2002, but never stopped playing, and have been given the nickname of "The Human Jukebox" since I can recognize and perform nearly any song I have ever heard. I have been teaching trumpet, improvisation and theory for ten years and have worked with students from beginner to professional level. I have taught private students, clinics, summer workshops and full band classes. I have worked with the Juilliard Outreach Program, Yamaha Canada, the Sterling Hall School and Roy Thompson Hall's 'Save the Music' program. Sharing music with my students is my greatest passion. I have been playing music since I was nine years old. Music has provided me with many valuable lessons and opportunities of which I instill on my students. I am a Trombonist, Guitarist, Composer and Arranger with a BFA in Jazz Performance from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. Some of my experiences as a professional musician include touring Europe with the JMI World Orchestra in 2017, performing at Carnegie Hall, The Apollo Theater, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola and many other venues through New York City, as well as many years of teaching, both privately and in groups.
