I believe that in learning an instrument and music, there is no such thing as difficult, only unfamiliar. As musicians, we must familiarize ourselves with things we do not know in order to excel in our instrument and create music. It can be anything from learning to play one note or writing a symphony. No matter what we learn, the rewards are endless! The lessons I teach are built around a stress free environment where no judgement can be found. It's all about enjoying what you're doing and have fun!
There is nothing I enjoy more than sharing my passion for music with others! I find that positive reinforcement paired with discussions of the benefits of perseverance help to create success in my students. Every student learns a little bit differently, and it is my job to tailor my instruction to suit these needs. Overall I like to create a creative, challenging, and exciting atmosphere at each lesson.
My name is Aquiles and I have been teaching for over 5 years now. I received my bachelors from the New England Conservatory in Boston and my Masters Degree from the University of Miami. I have studied with the likes of Brian Lynch, Jerry Bergonzi, Luis Bonilla, Danilo Pérez, Steve Emery and Victor Paz to mention a few. I have performed at major festivals such as the Panama Jazz Festival, Aspen/Snowmass Jazz Festival and many others. Currently working on my own projects and performing on a regular basis as the house band for the Bowery Poetry Club in the heart of NYC´s Lower East Side.
I started giving lessons in High School. In my last year at Berklee I worked as a teachers aid in their new Songwriting major, which stressed that students learn the technology needed for most musicians to function in a recording studio, and to learn the basics of multitrack recording, MIDI, and production. After college, I moved to New York and worked as the assistant director of education for the Sam Ash Music Institute. I was responsible for building the school curriculum. I and a staff put together classrooms for private and ensemble lessons. The following year I moved to LA. One of my first jobs there was at Bryan Lee Music, a music store that offered lessons on most instruments. I taught there for a year before landing a job at the Trebas Institute of Recording Technology in Hollywood, where I was a student advisor. The next few jobs lead me to becoming a composer for film and tv. I still managed to teach when my schedule was light. I had students at the Burbank Music Academy, a School of Rock. With all of this diversity, I can take a student wherever her or she wants to go.
I am an educator and composer who loves working with kids. I graduated from LIU Post (formerly C.W. Post) in 2014 with my Bachelor's in Music Education. At Post, I specialized on the trumpet with french horn as a secondary. I began teaching privately during my senior year of high school. Since then, I have taught 5th grade band, 6th grade band, 7th & 8th grade band, 9th grade band, and grades 9-12 high school band. In addition to trumpet, I teach french horn, clarinet, piano, and trombone privately.

Trombone lessons are recommend for children 8 and older. The trombone requires a large enough lunch capacity to sustain breath control, embouchure and upper body strength in order to produce a quality tone. Most importantly, students must be able to move through its full range of motion.
Trombone students will learn the notes of the trombone, how to hit the correct slide positions, and how to shape their embouchure. The trombone is a large brass instrument, and requires quite a bit of air support, so learning how to breathe properly is key. Most students will work on music excerpts from their school band, as well as solo repertoire, and most importantly, how to have fun playing the trombone!
By choosing in-home lessons, you are choosing the most convenient way to add trombone lessons into your schedule! Adults love our in-home lesson option as it allows them to learn their instrument without adding travel time to an already busy schedule. These lessons are also good for children as it allows them to work on their new skill in the comfort of their own home, in familiar surroundings, so they can be totally at ease and able to take in all the skills they learn during the lesson.
Most beginning students start with a straight trombone, which does not have extra tubing included. More advanced students may wish to go with an F-rotor trombone, which adds an extra trigger to make the trombone longer, changing the key. A student may decide to purchase a new trombone, rent an instrument from a local shop, or try to buy a used instrument. If renting or buying used, make sure the instrument is cosmetically sound and largely free of dents, and that the valves and slide all move correctly.
Adult trombone students may wish to study classical, jazz, blues, or even trombone versions of their favorite pop songs. What matters most is that the student is serious and dedicated to practicing every day! A teacher from our network will create a custom lesson plan for an adult student that focuses on fundamentals, while keeping the lessons fun and informative.

Henry has been a great piano teacher since I started lessons about a month ago, and he is helping me realize a lifelong dream. He is patient, plays beautifully, is easy to learn from and a very nice person. I took lessons as a child for a year or so, but never followed up over the years. I always said that I would once I retired and found the right instructor. That time is now. Thank you Henry and Musika!

I've always said, "It's all about the teacher." That skillful, effective teacher who can reach that child and ignite her passion, is truly a gift. Ric does that for my daughter. As a former music teacher myself, the most challenging thing in working with children is how to build their fundamental musical skills while letting them have fun and be expressive. The teacher must create a safe, supportive environment, and Ric does that. Ric immediately focuses on fundamentals of tone and technique, giving my daughter succinct instruction on how to improve, thus she can sense the improvement immediately. Ric seems extremely easy going; even when lighting a fire under her sometimes under-achieving butt, Ric never criticizes, judges or blames. He works with my child, understanding her, helping her problem solve, and even giving her the quick answer sometimes so she can move quickly and stay motivated. Ric balances fundamentals with fun and expressiveness, so my child feels as though she can 'play' and they truly make music in every lesson. I am thankful we found a good match with Ric.

"Richard is a very talented and a patient teacher. He teaches my 6 year old daughter in the comfort of our home and he is very regular. He follows a learning book and mixes his lessons to bring difficulty and technicality while keeping it interesting for my daughter. My daughter was difficult to work with at the beginning but he was able motivate her in every possible way. As a parent I make an effort to learn with my daughter so that when my daughter practices I am able to guide and correct her and Richard is very generous to take the time to give provide me concepts. I am extremely happy with Richard and his ability to teach children."

I feel she is a very professional teacher and I have already recommended your company and her to my friends who have children that play musical instruments. My 8 year old son has never been so enthusiastic to play his violin. His skills have improved almost exponentially since we have began lessons with Lauren. Your company has exceeded my expectations and I am very happy to have found it online.

We value Chelsea for the quality of her lessons, but also for the flexibility of her schedule. She has worked around family vacations, impromptu summer camps and the upcoming school year. Emily is better prepared to start middle school band this year due to flute lessons from Chelsea and we plan to continue the lessons for the foreseeable future.

I started taking voice lessons from Ali when I was 19 and a sophomore in college. Though I was hesitant to be starting "late", I felt very comfortable with Ali and her teaching style. We identified several key issues that really made a difference and improved my voice technique. It was fun to sing popular, beautiful songs in our recital! If only I lived in Los Angeles, I would still be a student. Highly recommended!

Our daughter has only been playing the piano since March. Tony replaced our other teacher who had a job transfer and could no longer teach. Tony is fun and encouraging. My daughter is playing Taylor Swift and Christmas songs and is playing the piano more than ever before. Very happy so far with Mr Tony

Eduard is an amazing teacher. (Coming from someone who previously knew the basics of playing and music.) He is not to harsh with his words and is extremely nice. Eduard has a great amout of experience and displays it through his teachings. Specifically by making it easy to follow along with his words to actions. As a person with a wondering mind whom is distracted easily, it is easy to pay attention.

Bill has been a great teacher for both my 6 yr. old and my 8 yr. old. He is always on time, keeps them engaged, and gives them just enough of a challenge for the next week. They are both beginners, but I am surprised by how much they already know after just a month or so of lessons. Both kids are practicing willingly and look forward to lesson.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
