Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. For beginning students who are children, I normally start with a basic Hal Leonard beginning instrument book. Once the student has progressed through the book and developed some technical facility, I will introduce a solo repertoire piece. For adults I try to start them off with a adult version of the appropriate begging instrument book. Since 2011, I have worked with my voice teacher as an apprentice to understand how the voice fundamentally functions. Each voice is different, so I treat it as such. No artist is the same. PLEASE DO NOT SEEK VOICE LESSONS EXPECTING ME TO CREATE A MIRACLE. I encourage you to write out your goal(s) before seeking lessons. As a kid, I had many lessons and teachers that I did not enjoy going to, and I don't want that to be the case for my lessons. For all my students I like to balance between making our way through a method book and breaking down different songs and exercises. I recommend Hal Leonard's Essential Elements/Method books or Standard of Excellence books for my woodwind/guitar/ukulele students, Piano Adventures by Faber books for my piano students, and Breaking It Down or Alfred's Beginning Drumset Method for my drum students. Once the student has gained an understanding of basic sight-reading, then we can move on to more advanced books that can be focused on a theme or other advanced methods. Read More
