I have taken several courses in different music pedagogy and techniques as well as genres of music.  Using the knowledge from these courses I have been enabled to form my philosophy of teaching to incorporate different teaching styles to help my students.  I feel that the main prupose of these lessons is to aid the students in their needs and wants whether it is understanding certain parts of music theory, techniques, or just understanding the basics with a piece of music.  Also, my students feel that they are able to come into a lesson with some ideas about what they want to get out of lesson while including my thoughts on what they need to work on. For all of my students of any age, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and learning a recognizable song hand picked by the student and approved by me. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce jazz repertoire, sight reading and things like, technical exercises, jazz improvisation, theory, ear training and classical music etudes. Since 2007, I've documented various events, such as an international summer course for music and dance educators in Czech Republic, a children's English language and Art camp in Ibiza Spain, and a national archery competition in Austria.
