I have been teaching music since I was 18 years old and have been doing it as my only source of income since 2010. The majority of my teaching was at a music school where I did individual lessons and seasonal group sessions. There I would pick 18-25 songs, cast students on parts, work on the songs for 3-4 months, and then put on a big concert.
