I began teaching private lessons in 2005, and I have a variety of teaching experiences. I have since substitute taught every kind of subject, and I've taught general music K-5.  I have mentored conservatory level students when I was in grad school, I taught flute to non-flute music education majors, and I've taught undergraduate students that were pre-music.  I taught 3-8 year olds music at Laurel Hill Summer Camp in East Setauket, Long Island. I've also taught workshops on South American Folk Music with Alturs Duo, as well as flute masterclasses. I am a motivated and passionate flute instructor who loves working with students of all different ages and backgrounds. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music and in Psychology from Williams College and have been playing the flute since I was 9. I have performed in various ensembles such as the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra, the I/o New Music Festival, various musical theatre pit orchestras, and the Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensemble at the New England Conservatory. For beginning students who are children, I often use the Andrew Scott Method for flute. When the student is considerably advance I will use the Rubank Book for flute begginers. Once the student is at a comfortable level, I will proceed to introduce him to Body Mapping. For adults, I will prefer to first of all know more about their learning abilities, other experiences with music/sports. Than, I will find out more what they are looking to learn and work from there.
