My lessons typically break down into three sections: Building Fundamental, Extending Techniques, and Making Music.  How much time is spent on each of these is dependent on the individual student and what they need to develop most at that particular time.  I always give students attainable goals for the next week, and a few long-term goals.  I find these goals help keep the student on task from week to week and give them something to keep striving for. As not all students will have the desire to become professional musicians, the ultimate goal is to build lifelong lovers of the arts...and if the student decides that music is a career, then the lessons are geared accordingly. I'm a passionate musician and instructor that recently graduated from Cedarville University with a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance. I have been playing for 8 years and have put on three collegiate recitals. I have served in the Florida Youth Symphony's Flute Choir, and as the principal in the University Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Flute Choir at Cedarville. I'm taking a year or two off to bolster my savings before pursuing a graduate degree in performance and going on to get a Ph.D. in musicology. Read More
