I see myself as a facilitator, helping students discover new elements of music and music theory and building upon those to create a greater understanding of reading and playing music both for piano and voice. Often i will model by playing a song first so that the student cannot not only hear what is sounds like but observe my technique, finger changes, dynamic ranges, tempo and so on. In addition to over a decade of performing experience, I have acquired eight years of fully funded training from three of the leading programs in the country in opera, vocal pedagogy, lyric diction (Italian, French, German and English), stage craft, acting methods, mime, mask, body awareness, and movement. For beginners who are children, I typically use Faber and Faber's Piano Adventures. One of my biggest goals while teaching is to provide my students with a well-rounded music education. From my experience, the Piano Adventures series aligns well this goal while providing engaging, fun material for children. After completing a series of method books, I start to focus on classical repertoire. While I believe classical repertoire is the best way to build piano technique, musicianship, and musical knowledge, I love including other genres depending on the student's interest. Read More

I love singing and I love teaching. I've taught voice off and on since 2002. My studio has included students from EVERY age bracket, ages 6- 70 and I've truly enjoyed each! When not teaching singing, I've taught elementary music preK-8, directed junior high choir and musicals, taught kindergarten and tutored students K through college. I love performing and have been soloist in many classical pieces including Vivaldi's Gloria, Hayden's Little Organ Mass and several works by Mozart. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In the 70's, I played at the Howard Theatre with local bands! Performing all over the US has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play both at the Kennedy Center and the White House in the nation's capital, as well as touring the late Phil Flowers, touring and playing in places like Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
