I have converted my garage into a "high tech" teaching and recording studio. As a working vocalist, I am very aware of the importance of taking care of one's voice. I teach breath, posture, resonance, placement and help students get over their mental hurdles to sing their best. When they are getting the basics, I will introduce music of their favorite styles into lessons and we will work on technique seperately and through these repertoire selections. At the end of each lesson, I will give students homework and three to five goals for the week. I give them a very clear idea of what they need to do at home to keep progress moving forward. Some of my career highlights include the many recitals I have crafted and performed with musical colleagues, singing in a NY opera program called American Singers' Opera Project, my debut at Carnegie Hall in 2012 and all those wordelss moments of connecting with an audience during songs. In 2004 Icompleted my bachelor's degree in vocal performance with a concentration in opera from Shenandoah University (so much more engaged, excited, and subsequently successful than I was in my first college experience!). While taking a course about the anatomy and physiology of singing, I found a perfect marriage of my analytical background/skills and my passion for developing people.
