I am very passionate about tailoring each lesson and even the way I approach each student to that student's skill level as well as personality. I am invested in my students' lives and endeavor to make sure that my studio is a place where they feel understood, appreciated, and safe. I allow students to have an active role in selecting their own repertoire so that they find pieces they really adore. Read More

I knew from an early age that I wanted music to be an integral part of my life. I began taking piano lessons at age 8, and pipe organ lessons at age 15, from my church's Minister of Music. I spent my school years playing for weddings, recitals, competitions, church services, community theater events, and of course, for my own enjoyment! I was inducted into Mu Phi Epsilon (a professional fraternity) in my senior year of college, and had the privilege of being a featured piano soloist with my college-community orchestra that same year. As stated, I have taught students of all ages, from pre-K to adults. I first began teaching while I was in college and have taught ever since. While most of my career has been spent teaching privately in fine arts academies and in students' homes, for the past 7 years I have taught high school choir in Keller ISD. I love to see my students succeed and have those "aha!" moments when their individual practice begins to pay off. Read More

I believe first and foremost in supporting and developing what musically inspires a student’s decision to study and/or play music. In order to fully develop control, musicality and understanding of the music language, it is important to focus on several aspects of music including music theory (scale and harmonic structure/function and rhythm) ear-training, reading and performance skills. Like any aspect of life, consistency and patience are two very important qualities to posses when working towards a goal. Read More

For children, we'll begin with aiding the discovery of musical instinct. For adults, I start by becoming familiar with what kind of music got them curious. By looking at all its parts we can begin learning the fundementals and getting to a point of confidence in a solo or ensemble setting. I recommend filming rehearsals to be able to self-critique at home. I also recommend critical listening to the music we're working on or any other music the student may be listening to. Read More
