Korea, be a featured Tenor soloist in the summer music festival "Orvieto Musica" in Orvieto, Italy, and the leading Tenor in the Opera "La Belle Helene" the summer of 2014 in Paris, France. I truly believe that we are never too advanced or too fresh to learn, which is why I continue to take lessons as well. My techniques are solid, and I am always encouraging others to keep up their practice! Read More

For my first class with my students, I typically would get to know them in terms of their goals, experience as a singer, and get to know where they are in their pursuit of those goals they set for themselves. After which, I would do warm-up exercises, vowel, and consonant work, and establish fundamentals of vocal techniques for the desired genre. Once the student feels more comfortable with their voice, I would suggest an introductory repertoire (usually an Art Song) according to their age, level, voice type, and their personality. Read More

Regular practice, especially for younger students, is essential as it helps to create a progressive connection to their instrument. I've found that selecting music WITH my student, and not just assigning work that I want them to like, goes a long way in helping students enjoy singing and motivates them to practice and continue to learn. While my students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, my priority above all is to make sure students are having fun in their lessons (otherwise I'm not doing my job!). Read More

Generally, I like to discuss what kind of music the students are interested in studying first. Then, after vocalizing and assessing the voice, I'll start the students with English art songs or 24 Italian Songs Arias, or some classic music theater repertoire. From there, the student and I will assess what best fits the student's interest. Read More

I have been teaching private lessons for 7 years part-time, and have been consistently teaching students full time for the last 3 and half years. I have taught at the prestigious Dallas School of Music, in Dallas, TX, and now am excited to join the Musika team. I have a strong foundation in classical and non-classical genres, so I've enjoyed teaching students of all skills levels, from 4 year old piano students, to 70 year old voice students, with many others in between. I'm a lifelong musician, songwriter, and performer, and my primary goal is to share the joy of music with the world in whatever way it'll let me. I've been performing and writing for bands since 2009, and it hasn't disappointed me once. Currently I'm on the tail end of my BA at Boston's Berklee College of Music, where I've been studying music business, composition, and theory since 2016. When I'm not working or studying, you'll find me touring the country and writing songs with my band, Kayak Jones. Read More
