My Methods: Fundamentals of breath work - incorporating several physical exercises and methods of showing the coordination until it is ingrained Focus on the use of the resonators - projecting the sound to the different cavities where sound resonates before leaving your body and into the room (i.e. 'the mask', mouth resonance, chest resonance, etc) Reducing tongue tension - a common issue is root of the tongue tension and I have several exercises to address this Improving range - most of my students gain notes in their belt range and their head range, and often in their low range as well Increasing the legato vocal line - here we focus on linking the vowels properly supported by the breath Jaw tension - similar to tongue we have evercises for this Style - different approaches such as riffing, back phrasing, using a glottal attack, using a breathy attack - creating colorful expressive phrases that link to the emotion of the song and the style desired Musicality - learning to read music, counting tempo, sustaining pitch, syncopation, dynamics, etc Diction - correct vowel shapes and enunciation + awareness of when tension closes down the vocal line if diction is carried over from speaking habits Performance - using tools from acting training to perform a song effectively and believably Career consultation - when appropriate, also offered Read More

I teach music to students who want to learn music. I can teach different styles of music, includingclassical and popular. Sight reading and ear training are very important elements that I also teach. However, if students only wish to learn one type of music, I willhonor their preference. My training includes a BA degree in Music, and a MA degree in Administration. Read More

I personally practice SOVT, where we start with light humming, use a semi-occluded means of vocalizing (such as lip trills or a straw in water) to gradually warm-up the vocal cords and bring the breath under the voice for adequate support. Then we move on to actual vocalizations. Over several lessons, we work on a chosen piece together and begin building repertoire appropriate to the singer. I started out teaching group sessions for local singers in Southern California at no cost for 4 years starting in 2013. Eventually, students from the group classes started to seek me out for individual lessons and I was also invited to be the lead vocal coach for a singing competition called ETTV Top Stars held by ETTV America in 2017 as well as 2019. Being an artist myself, I love teaching young aspiring artists the knowledge and watch the surpass how far I went in the entertainment business. Read More

I specialize in teaching classical art song and opera, but also enjoy teaching the musical theater repertoire and popular genres. I have been a teaching artist and assistant music teacher for junior highs and high schools, and an intern at Little Opera, a company that puts opera composition and performance in the hands of elementary school students. I have performed the roles of Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Adele in Die Fledermaus. Read More

I truly believe that all learning, while serious in nature, should be fun and exciting in methodology. Living in the age of technology, there are so many ways to make learning fun and interesting for students. Whether it be sharing information from Youtube, educational sites such as The Teaching Channel, using digital music apps such as "Smart Music" for assessment, showing a student how to record themselves on their smartphones, all of these things can be brought in to the instructional experience.
