I graduated from Kansas State University in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance and a minor in Theatre. Over the past 5 years I have had 7 beginner piano students and 10 voice students of varying levels. I have taught ages 5-10 for piano and 11-20 for voice. I currently teach online via FaceTime/Zoom, am available to go to students homes or host them in my studio. I love teaching the next generation of musicians to find their voice and confidence in their instrument so that they can share their gifts with others and edify themselves.. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I like to start with Hal Leonard's Piano for Beginners. Progress will depend on the students' willingness to learn and practice as well as encouragement from their parents. For students who already have an understanding of basic fundamentals, I will assess their skill level and select music appropriate for their progression and level of play. Adult beginner students are more than welcome to use piano books. Read More

My teaching style is to make learning fun for my students. It is also important to me that students set their own goals and take ownership of their learning. It is my job to guide them to those goals and to celebrate when those goals are accomplished. Read More

nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace, so i encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. setting and hitting realistic goals drives motivation and acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more, and keeps the learning process new and exciting etc. by trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs, while the student remains comfortable and confident in his/her abilities etc. Read More

As a former certified school teacher my focus is on laying the right foundation for a lifetime of musical learning and enjoyment for the student. I want my students to develop skills in all aspects and styles of playing so that as their preferences progress they will be equipped for all genres and styles. However if an adult or intermediate level student wants to specialize I can accommodate them. That's why I suggest they incorporate both note reading and chord theory to their scope and sequence of study. Read More
