I have been teaching music in school and giving private music lessons for voice, piano, violin, piano, cello, and viola since 2003. Aside from giving private music lessons, I also conduct and organize chamber ensembles, choir, orchestra, hand bell choir, musicals, recitals, and other public performances. One year after graduating from KD Conservatory, I moved to the Philippines and started my own original band called Alchemy Band. We performed several times a week at local venues. Most of the band members were full-time college students and due to the overwhelming workload, some of the members could no longer keep up with performance demand. I also won major national and regional singing competitions throughout China, including First Place in the most important national competition. I work from a whole-body mindfulness perspective on voice. We use our whole body to create and emit sound, not just our lungs and throat. When we work from a whole-body perspective, we are more grounded, we are better able to identify pitch and stay on pitch, our breath flows better, and the act of singing becomes enjoyable and easy.
