My teaching experience started years ago when I got off the road and people were asking me to teach them. Fellow actors and musicians were curious why I didn't lose my voice, and could stay healthy for the run of a show, or a five hour gig. I told them it is all in the technique . My vocalizes are the same for every one . It is like an athelete warming up for a game. Read More

I first started teaching in the 1990s, in Boston, MA., both privately, and at Berklee College of Music. Since moving to Sarasota, I've taught voice/chorus at Out Of Door Academy and IMG Academy. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with students who are motivated to learn and grow, sing for their personal pleasure, and/or with professional goals in mind. I like to instill joy as well as self discipline. Being from Montreal, I speak English and French fluently, as well as other languages, and love teaching people of every age and cultual background. My teaching experience started in Graduate school, at Indiana University. I taught voice lessons to a violin major who was interested in taking voice lessons on the side. Since then, I've maintained a voice studio from my home and remotely, as I've traveled and moved around the country for singing work. I've been based in Tampa, FL now for close to seven years, and was teaching voice lessons via Face-time and Zoom from 2020-2021, and then also began in-person lessons from my home after Fall of 2021. As I previously mentioned above,I show each student as much as they can pick up.I can show a student just about anything they want to learn, but its really about how much they practice at home that determines their ability. If the student practices a lot we move much quicker and it becomes more fun and challenging.Music is endless and you can never stop learning.they are proving more and more every day how music affects your brain. When you just listen to music, you use every part of your brain.Few things do that. When you play music you are using even more of your brain. I introduce double stop positioning, bar positions, forms for 12 bar and 1-4-5- chord patterns in different styles of music (this can range from Beethoven to Jimi Hendrix). I then move to introducing songs than have the same core chords, but in different sequences, so students can see broader applications. I also have an favorite tool of mine that especially helps with theory -- a wheel that has the circle of 5ths carved into it, with patterns and relations between the keys carved into an inner wheel on it as well. I am a passionate music educator and performer who loves to share the joy of music with my students. I hold a Master Degree in Music Performance from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a Bachelor Degree in Music Performance from Florida State University. I've performed in a variety of roles and settings, including opera houses, to concert halls, to coffee shops, to parks, and even private salons. I believe music should be accessible to all and work very hard to make that a reality. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time. I have been consistently teaching students since 2018. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
