I am a dedicated and determined voice teacher, with a passion rooted in the desire to develop a healthy vocal technique. In 2022, I graduated with my Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Binghamton University. Over the past ten years, I have spent time performing on stage in concerts, operas, and musical theatre. Some highlights of my singing career include touring through parts of Austria and Italy, working with music professionals from Juilliard, and competing in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. For my older students I always try and find out what they would like to focus on specifically. I usually begin with what they feel their musical strengths and weaknesses are. From there we build up their strengths and create newer strengths. I create my own personal lesson plans to cater to each individual student. With students of any age, I consider it my number one priority to create a learning environment that is both encouraging of their growth and passion for music, and supportive/safe for them to take the risks and meet the challenges necessary for that growth. I always work to maintain a dialogue with students about their interests and ensuring that our work includes and stimulates those interests, while also finding ways to make our work on fundamental techniques and building blocks as engaging and fun as possible. It's important to me that students are invested in their own lessons, and what this means will differ from student to student. For some five year olds, that may be simply participating in the whole lesson and practicing a few minutes per week. For others, it may mean being challenged with advanced materials. Each student will receive a unique repertoire and lesson based on ability and interests. I focus on technique, then repertoire, then theory, then review for a 30 minute lesson, and younger students will often get a fun music-based game at the end if the lesson has been fruitful. I have been teaching voice students for 5 years. I like to focus on building good technique for any style of singing, with classical singing technique being the basis of that. For my younger students, I particularly like to focus on building good practicing habits and helping them learn how to be self starting and disciplined. I like to build units or goals for each student when private teaching . It helps me and the student know what needs to be worked on. I also tend to be a visual instructor , meaning I like to use tricks to teach students different vocal technique. Although I do not mind accommodating to a students needs if their instruction is to be taught differently. I want to make lessons as fun and educational as possible and I expect student to put in their input to what they want to learn. Read More
