I have over 15 years of experience teaching guitar and voice to students from 4 – 73 years old. During the last two years I began teaching ukulele to children as young as 4years old. I am currently teaching mostly school age children, adolescents and adults. As a music therapist I have used guitar lessons as a therapeutic intervention to improve cognitive functioning in older adults. I believe that an individualized approach is most effective when teaching students of all ages. Read More

I started to teach group music class and private lesson when I was in undergraduate. I always try to bring everything I learned from performance, music education, observing other music teacher and my own experience to every music lesson I gave. Practicing consistently is the most important way to make the lesson experience more pleasant and worthwhile. Other than introducing the music to my students, I also encourage them to perform, because sharing music is also part of the learning process. Read More

In music, students are likely invested in music in their personal lives and therefore, connections can be made to drive concepts home. When music educators understand and nurture the overall learning experience of their students, a well-rounded and holistic educational experience unfolds. My teaching style is based on traditional classical approach of Russian Piano teaching method. For younger, beginner level student lessons are structured around different activities and games (for very young students) to learn notes reading and rhythm. For intermediate and more advanced students each lesson starts with a warm up, of scales, arpeggios, etudes or other technical pieces. After that we move onto working on individual pieces of music. Student is explained what needs to be done to achieve desired results for each specific piece, and the homework is written in a notebook for the following lesson. Read More

I am student-oriented teacher. I would like the student to explain their goals to me and we will work as a team to achieve those goals. This involves choosing the music to be studied. I have plenty of ideas for beginners who want help with choosing books. Then as lessons progress, student goals can be plugged I to instruction, no matter what music they are playing or singing. I encourage students to play for family and friends, and participate in music education events. Read More

Instruments: Voice

Before we start our Lessons, I do have a few questions that I ask my students 1. Why Vocal Lessons? 2. What kind of music genres or artists you like and or listen to? 3. What are your personal music goals? 4. Would you like to sing as a career, or hobby? 5. Need help with Auditioning? 6. Ever Do Karaoke? With these guided questions I am able to formulate a geared program toward the specific student so that they could reach their goals and be successful. Read More
