For beginning level students of any age, I will begin lessons by going over basic fundamentals of sheet music reading (notation, connecting the instrument to the literature) and music theory that will aid them in accomplishing homework tasks independently. For experienced students, I will ask the student to demonstrate knowledge and playing to their best ability to obtain a better understanding of where to continue their studies. I will also ask all students what kind of music they are already studying and what else they would like to pick up from there (studying classical contemporary for school band with an interest in starting jazz music, etc.) I will always consider the students age and playing level to appropriately create lesson plans that will ensure growth over time. For every one of my beginning students who wants to start playing the guitar or singing, I will alway start them off the best and most knowlegable way I know how, which would be a beginners guide. At the very beginning level I would start with fundamentals from whatever book I feel would be best for the student depending on their age and knowledge. Beforehand I definitely will need to asses their knowledge so I can do so accordingly. I began offering private string lessons in College during summers in Florida. I taught private string lessons. Further into my education I took internships in music therapy working with many different populations. I gave therapeutic music lessons to patients in hospitals like Massachusetts General Hospital, Worcester Recovery Center and McLean Hospital. There I ventured into teaching guitar and voice.
