I have loved music from a very early age and I have been fortunate to study a variety of instruments and musical styles. I grew up studying the drums, piano, guitar, voice, and songwriting. This way, the student will understand how to produce a big sound without straining. Breathing exercises such as 'underwater noises' and 'tornado siren' are fun and keep the mood open and lively. I use the bel canto method when I teach singing: simply put , beautiful vowel-based singing! This goes for all ages. I use standard warm ups such as those based on Estelle Liebling, as well as more non traditional methods such as those in CoreSinging and the Funky n Fun series. Overall I believe voice to be very customizable as a discipline and make sure each student gets what they need at every lesson- whether it's additional help with confidence in their ear if they are newer or more song polishing if they're more advanced or intermediate. For Vocalists, the very foundation of proper singing will be taught: Posture, Breath Management, Muscle/Core Control, and Vowel Placement. These are the basics of good singing, in any genre.  I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.  But don't worry!
