I take  a physiological approach to singing...after all it is a physical endeavor.  The voice or larynx, despite all it complexities, is just another set of muscles that can be trained to reach its fullest potential.  The method I teach, “The Franco/Italian Bel Canto Method” has been taught in Europe for more than 200 years and has produced the world’s greatest classical singers.  Now, having said that let me assure you that studying this method doesn’t mean you have to become a classical singer.  The techniques used are designed to strengthen and improve the quality of the human voice and can be applied to any genre whether your goal is “Broadway,” “American Idol” or you simply want to improve your voice for your own personal satisfaction.  The method also addresses all things associated with singing, such as breathing, posture and stage presence. While most of my career has been spent teaching privately in fine arts academies and in students' homes, for the past 7 years I have taught high school choir in Keller ISD. During our lessons we will address correct breathing and posture and different vocalises that will strengthen and free up the voice, giving the student more power, more range and more freedom/agility.  Singing with freedom is a different path for each singer, and I will prescribe different exercises for each area of the voice we are trying to improve.  You will also be assigned songs: some classical, some musical theater and then whatever genre is your favorite. My choirs have performed at Carnegie Hall two times, Disneyworld, New Orleans, State Capital, and many other locations winning UIL and other state, local and national competitions. As a singer I have performed with the Fort Worth Opera, in San Francisco, Germany, Austria and our Nation's Capital. My students have won UIL state and local competitions, piano competitions and many college scholarships.
