My teaching style is based on each student's needs. Some students like to learn at a fast pace and others like to go slower. I listen carefully and ask questions, basing instruction on what creates success. My approach is to make learning fun. I bring markers and stickers and other visual aids to create a unique learning process. I like to use games and sayings to help remember things, many of which I've developed over the years. Read More

For students of all levels, I emphasize the fundamentals. No matter what style our focus is in, the development of scales, chord progressions, modes and technique patterns are universal. I incorporate solo literature early and often and work with the students to play the music that they listen to every day. We develop the students ear through weekly memorization of music the student enjoys on a daily basis. This allows us to branch into more advanced literature with a deeper understanding of what makes a style, a style. Read More

I believe in a flexible manner of instruction, responsive to the unique atmosphere of a given class. In conducting either a large recital or studio class, I am aware of students different experiences and temperaments in hopes of developing their strengths while ameliorating their weaknesses. Every student, regardless of background, can improve his or her ability to listen to and understand a piece of music. students are equipped to explore the possibilities of each perspective and emboldened to push beyond their own experience to expand their skills. I began teaching private music lessons in 2017 during college. I have continued this for the last two years. I love to teach my students not only how to play/sing music, but also how to perform! My goal is to always prepare students for performance, and to also give them chances to perform. To do this, we hold bi-yearly or yearly recitals. We have even recorded a studio album in the past! Instruments: Voice
My first teaching experience was at a summer opera camp one year during college, and the kids were lining up left and right to have lessons with me! They received short lessons, where they worked on their assigned repertoire from the staff at Minnesota Opera. I mostly worked with them on breath and support. Fast forward ten years, and for almost a year now, I have managed to build a studio through an online platform, courtesy of Singing with Lauren LLC. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I begin with an assessment of the student that starts with the student explaining to me his or her background and personal goals/reasons for taking voice lessons. From there, I take the student through simple exercises where assess the students ability in the fundamentals of, postural alignment, breath support, resonance, articulation, and vowel constancy. Based on the students' ability I devise a regimen of vocal exercises designed to strengthen areas of weakness. Read More

As an experienced teacher, I know that the more senses you involve in learning, the greater your grasp on that concept will be. So, I guide students through the exercises with hand gestures and some interesting visualizations (After All Voice is the Instrument that is unseen!) Together, I encourage my students develop their own visualizations & methods to help them train their muscle memory to fall in to place with less effort each time until it becomes natural. Read More
