I continued to study classical, pop, and jazz stlyes, and began performing at age 7, and teaching in high school. Since college, I have maintained a private studio, either at home or in pretigious music schools, and have also taught in the school setting. I ask them to bring any materials they have and will often recommend books and supplemental material I have had success with. For beginning students, I focus on the essentials of theory and intervals and combine with the Voice for Life method. Each lesson is tailored to the student's needs and goals, so no lesson is exactly alike in structure. For intermediate to advanced students, I focus on aural (ear) training, sight singing and rhythm and follow it with prepared pieces in order to be "audition ready". I have had great success using the Faber and Faber book series, as this gets students in the music quickly. From there, there is so much solo repertoire to explore!
