Practice is essential to growth, but if a student does not enjoy their repertoire, they simply won't practice. Therefore, I work to find common ground with students when selecting songs. I will not force Classical or Jazz, but feel the technique these styles teach are invaluable. Each student will learn music fundamentals and basic reading skills. I feel knowledge of the piano is helpful for all musicians so in early lessons I will teach piano skills to aid in practice. Read More

I am interested in the individual growth of my students. I encourage exploration and learning through experiences, and if my students leave my classes with a little more knowledge and a great deal more wonder, I consider it a success. I like to follow my students down the tracks they are interested in and then choose to broaden the path once we are there. From this place I have written a 12 page chart featuring a Justin Bieber tune, written a Britney Spears song into Swing, put a Miranda Lambert song in five, and arranged an original by The Script in a Latin feel. Music is my life, and I love to share my passion with others! I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1997, majoring in Music Production and Engineering and Voice. I have been producing music, and I have been teaching voice and piano off and on for 25 years. I am a singer songwriter, and I play with my band "Dream Jeannie". Some of my other paid jobs include producing cultural music, singing back-up vocals for a local artist, and teaching for Tacoma Public Schools, Tacoma Musical Playhouse, The City of University Place, and Taylor Robinson Music.
