Generally, I like to discuss what kind of music the students are interested in studying first. Then, after vocalizing and assessing the voice, I'll start the students with English art songs or 24 Italian Songs Arias, or some classic music theater repertoire. I'm a young musician, and I have a strong believe in the importance of all forms of artistic expression. Above all, I understand that music, of all art forms, is integral to social and personal development. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a BA in music in vocal performance in 2013, and in 2012, I had the amazing experience of studying under the renowned soprano, Delia Surratt, in Rome. In school, I also completed a theatre minor and was the musical director of my a cappella group, so I am familiar with many styles of singing. Read More

While teaching is my bread and butter, I take most of my approaches from personal performance experiences. From performing in opera ("The Little Prince" 2024), musicals ("You're A Good Man Charlie Brown", "Beauty and the Beast" 2022, "Addams Family" 2023, "Into the Woods" 2024), and competitions (National Association of Teachers Singing Musical Theatre Winner and Classical Runner-up, 2024)-- I believe that physical, intellectual, and emotional passion within music creates avenues for students to engage in social responsibility, community building, and personal growth. I started teaching private voice lessons during my first year of college in 2012. I enjoy prepping students for auditions as well as teaching proper warmups. One of the techniques that helped me the most at a young age was learning how to support my voice with my breath.
