My lessons typically start with stretching and breathing exercises and then transition to vocal exercises. The vocal exercises serve to strengthen their technique and solidify skills needed to tackle their song. I always ask my students what kind of music they are interested in and find songs to work on that will help strengthen their voice, but also connect with their soul. I am a passionate, motivated, and an experienced music instructor. I have been playing guitar and other various instruments since I was 11 - I'm currently in my mid thirties. I graduated in 2014 with an Associates degree in music from Sierra Community College, where my main focus was guitar and composition. I then worked at the Willow Glen Music School from 2019-2020 to teach voice and piano to students from 4 to 70 years old. Since 2020, I've been teaching online vocal lessons to singers from 14 to 50 years old. For three years I was a camp counselor in the La Honda Music Camp (Hayward, CA). As a counselor, I looked after 10-12 middle school-aged girls, oversaw brass sectionals, coached trombone, and assisted in the junior wind ensemble. In high school I used to coach my classmates in the trombone section. In my grad school years I began to teach beginning piano and trombone. My hope when teaching music is that the kids have a lot of fun learning their instrument, so I always encourage them to learn songs they'd like to sing/play along to. Read More
