Each lesson begins with a chat while we gently stretch, breathe and prepare your body to sing. Singers are attached to their instrument and so getting your mind focused and getting comfortable in the singing space allows us to have as productive a lesson as we can. We work on vocalizes and technique next- to properly warm you up and strengthen your instrument. I began teaching my sophomore year of college teaching a beginner class aimed at teaching 5-8 year olds the foundations of music in a fun and interesting way. Soon after, I started teaching private piano and voice lessons to students age 8-18 as well as directing performance program shows. I have found that letting students pick their own material to work on helps keep them motivated and interested. The first two things that I teach in my studio is posture and breathing. I analyze the posture of the singer and find several yoga postures that can help the student to relax some tension and to be more comfortable. I help students to be more aware of how the breath works in their bodies by using several repeating breath exercises and yoga posture. My vocal technique is based on YogaVoice, meaning that I used Yoga principles combined with Vocal Technique exeecises to sing more organic and to achieve an authentic relaxed voice. Read More

For this I have grown the string and choral programs in Elmhurst's 51st Avenue Academy; taught violin, viola, and chamber music at the Queens College Center for Preparatory Studies in Music; led the Stony Brook Pre-College chamber music program; taught strings and chorus in Kiev, Ukraine; taught graduate education courses at Touro College online; and enjoy teaching music at NJ's Calderone School.
