I graduated with my Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Vocal Performance last year and have an extensive performance history. My teaching experience began as early as high school when I would volunteer my time to teaching middle school students how to play instruments. I continued through college teaching both middle and high school students on my winter and summer breaks. I continued after my matriculation from university, and began to focus on the high school students. Depending on the instrument I’m teaching and the skill level of the student I’m usually going to start of with a 10 to 15 minute session of evaluation and assessment of needs acquired skills and students desires .we can then begin with exercising proper warm up posture and position .and run through warm up scales and learn rutiments or attack the desired skill requirements straight ahead depending on the students development.Music is an art and a discipline.it is a relationship one has with there instrument.my songs and instruments become like family ,well charrished!!!! Classes are broken down into three sections 1. breathing and body exercises 2. vocal exercises 3. repertoire and style. In the breathing and body exercises we discuss the idea of breathing for singing and proper vocal support. This is fundamental to good vocal technique and is the basis for everything that we will be working on achieving with our voice.
