My teaching style has been described by students as such: "Natural, with a focus on healthy singing," "concentrating on developing techniques specific to each genre of music," and "always fun but still really helpful!" I emphasize becoming self-sufficient as a musician so that my students can become great musicians outside of the lesson environment. We work together during each lesson to safely develop the voice and learn techniques appropriate to each style of music. Read More

I ask all of my students to be prepared for their lessons with a notebook and pencil for lesson notes and assignments. I ask them to bring any materials they have and will often recommend books and supplemental material I have had success with. I believe in writing down notes that help students understand what they are learning, exactly what students should practice, and setting goals for their practice and overall progress. Read More

I taught private guitar lessons continuously, while in highschool and college. In between engagements in my performing career, I would always return to teaching. In 1992 I was certified by Dr. L Scott Martin, Phd from Juilliard, to teach vocal performance at his Academy of the Arts in Denver, and I have continued to the present, to coach young singers to express themselves with music. I have been blessed in helping many of my students to reach some impressive accomplishments in music, such major record deals, appearances on TV and Film, and getting in to some great music colleges. I'm a passionate and energetic instructor who loves working with students of all ages and sharing my love of music. In 1994, I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. Performing as lead singer in a very fun dance/funk band with a horn section has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I've been fortunate to play almost every large venue in our great city as well as open up for famous acts such as Howard Jones at the Gothic Theater. Read More

I have a degree in Music Composition with a focus in piano and guitar. I have been teaching ever since I developed my own understanding of Music Theory. I have always been fascinated with teaching music to others and developing new ways of understanding. Read More

I started studying around 5 years old and went through alot of instruments and eventually realized that I was really motivated by singing. I auditioned for Performing Arts High School and ended up getting accepted my junior year of high school. This was a big thing for me as I learned about the different levels of music prowess and it opened me to other styles. Since the age of 14 I played in a band of some sort. Read More

My teaching style is receptive and warm, but focused. I use goal-setting as a satisfying and organized way to break down musical lessons, which means lessons time is well spent and students have a good understanding of how and what to practice. Students remain engaged and satisfied with this approach, which provides proof of the progress that is taking place in lessons and in private practice time. Since music learning is highly cumulative, it's important to me that students have a thorough understanding of principles before moving on to new ones. Read More
