My teaching experience is rooted in a deep commitment to helping individuals unlock their voice with confidence, clarity, and authenticity. Over the years, I have worked with students across a range of settings—including private coaching and group sessions—guiding both beginners and developing artists toward meaningful vocal and personal breakthroughs. Through this work, I have developed a teaching approach that blends technical foundation with emotional awareness and self-expression. I specialize in helping students move beyond vocal limitations such as tension, breath restriction, and lack of confidence, supporting them in finding a voice that feels free, grounded, and fully their own. Seems I've always been a teacher, even when I didn't realize it; from my school days as first chair helping other students, through college where I taught for the Southern Nevada School of Music and at Vesleys Music Conservatory, through the time I received my first certified public school teaching position and after that as a business owner with employees, I have been teaching and learning. Currently I teach Instrumental, Vocal music and Speech/Drama in Oklahoma as a certified classroom teacher. Read More

A student must be comfortable enough to take the risks that are necessary to grow as a musician. Sometimes those risks will result in what seems to be a failure. I try to reinforce the idea that it is not a failure because you tried, what can we use from that experience to get closer to what you were trying to accomplish next time. Anyone willing to put in the effort and put their talent on display for correction and review is very brave and I honor that bravery. Read More

I currently teach voice and theory at Norman Music Institute in Norman, OK. I have been teaching there since March of 2019. I also have been teaching students off and on over the past 7 years. Having been a college student needing to move between states every few years has made it difficult to keep things consistent, but I have certainly seen success in my students in the time I have had with them. I base my teaching methods on the student I am teaching. For students that are children at a beginner level, I typically begin with the essential elements of creating vocal foundation which I draw from many sources. Once we have set a good foundation, we tend to begin working on repertoire that is appropriate for the level at which they are singing, using those songs as learning opportunities. For adults, I begin by asking about the goals of the individual student and I then formulate a strategy to help the student reach their specific singing goals. Read More
