In college I majored in music education and developed tools to introduce beginners, both children and older amateurs, to music. I would begin each lesson with a vocal warmup so that I can see where their tone is placed and if they are an alto/soprano/tenor/etc. I would ask what genres they are interested in or what types of music they like. I work with a variety of learning methods including Hal Leonard, John Thompson, Bastien, Alfred, Hanon, Czerny and Faber.  I select methodology and solo repertoire to best improve my students technique while at the same time keeping their interest and enthusiasm.
