I have acquired over 15 years experience in teaching all different genres of music through piano, violin, and viola to students of all ages, as well as many years of experience in preparing students for NYSSMA in all levels. I believe music should not only be an educational experience, but a creative and fun one as well! Through learning many different genres of music, my students will learn to appreciate all that encompasses music and they will become more well- rounded and open-minded in life. Read More

While most beginning students respond well to the Suzuki method, I also incorporate elements of traditional (namely note-reading) and Dalcroze methods (namely movement, improv, and aural skills) in my teaching. I am also experienced in preparing students for auditions and examinations, such as the Royal Conservatory of Music examination in Canada and ABRSM in the UK. For more information on Suzuki method, please visit https://suzukiassociation.org/about/suzuki-method/ For more information on Dalcroze method, please visit https://dalcrozeusa.org/about-dalcroze/what-is-dalcroze/ Read More

I value my ability to tailor lessons and my curriculum to the particular needs and goals of each individual student. I truly believe that there is not a 'one-size-fits-all' approach to learning the violin! I have created my own combination of sequential exercises and repertoire selections, using influences from pedagogues that I have studied under, including Shirley Givens, Bettina Mussumeli, and Elizabeth Faidley, and major pedagogy styles including that of Shinichi Suzuki and Paul Rolland. Instruments: Piano Voice Violin Fiddle
I began teaching beginner piano when I was in middle school and caught the teaching bug! (My dad was a high school choir teacher for thirty-five years, so I must have caught it from him.) Now I teach violin/fiddle, voice and piano. I believe that learning classical music and sight reading are both fundamentals to begin learning any instrument. However, I love to teach other styles as well! I would love to work with budding musical theater performers who want to work on musicianship skills and/or learn piano/violin. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin Music
I put great emphasis on establishing a very good control on the technique of violin. I do it by teaching students how to do scales and etudes while having fun and making themselves more motivated by setting their own goals and achieving them, which also builds up their confidence. After students get more and more in command of themselves and the violin, I would then proceed to help the students with their own repertoire and guide them to formulate their own musical ideas and make their own voice be heard!
