Instruments: Violin Viola Recorder Fiddle
My goal is for students to love playing their instrument so much after every lesson that they are motivated to keep working on concepts outside of their lesson time. Thus far, all of my private lesson students practice outside of their lessons, and I hope to keep it that way! I believe that all students are capable of learning music regardless of preconceived notions about talent level. I understand that people have busy schedules, but I expect them to make some time to practice outside of lessons even if it is only for 10 or 20 minutes per day. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more and make learning music is fun. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.. Read More

I started teaching back in college. I had a private studio of violin and piano students. I then took on after school strings classes as well as maintaining my studio. I graduated from college in 2006 and then I bagan my career for the next 7 years as an orchestra director in the public school system, which I enjoyed. I realized that my true passion was teaching private lessons and having my own students. Read More

For violin I usually use Suzuki Method and will introduce etudes like Wohlfahrt or Kreutzer. I also have fun with Christmas music, pop and fiddle. If they are young children aged 4-6, I will use the "I Can Read Music" by Joanne Martin. For guitar I use a variety of different classical method and etude books. In addition, I will introduce different genres according to what each student wants to learn, for example, rock, pop, worship, etc. Read More

My lessons are very structured and fun. I incorporate games, visual aids, physical application, and live demonstrations to help appeal to the different styles. I do expect a high level of commitment from students while still being understanding that life doesnt always allow us to practice hours and hours a day. Since I do provide a lot of information within each lesson, I add a 5 minute break (if needed) to help clear the mind or just rest the eyes/arms since staring at music for a long period of time or holding up an instrument for a long period of time can be quite taxing. Instruments: Violin Cello Viola Double Bass
I am a firm believer that every person should have some sort of musical experience to enrich their lives. Teaching music has been a deep commitment and passion for the last 20 years. My specialty area is bowed instruments. How did I begin my experience with the cello and the other bowed instruments? I began in an elementary strings class in a public school in Tennessee. Through that experience as well as private lessons and youth orchestras, I developed a profound connection to music. Read More

Everyone has the capacity to be a musician...therefore, I teach students of all ages and include all cultures (all styles and musical genres). No one is a 'beginner' when it comes to recognizing great music, so I strive to create musicians who can reach their own goals...thus, building independence is the key: My job is done when my students can do what I do without needing me! For more experienced students, I assess your present skills upon our first lesson via a variety of repertoire so as to 'diagnose' what areas you need improvement on musically speaking. Read More
