Starting viola late in high school was a big decision for me. My parents had told me I was not allowed to start violin as a child because it would be "too hard". Once I started playing, I hit the ground running. I decided about a year into playing that I wanted to teach music. I went to Susquehanna University and majored in Music with a Music Technology minor. There, I participated in the string pedagogy program. This involved weekly teaching seminars and being paired with nearly 20 students throughout my time at Susquehanna. I participated in regular violin festivals by teaching group repertoire and theory classes. I also had the joy of being a counselor for the Williamsport Symphony Youth Orchestra Summer String Festival. Another fond memory is conducting for a new pilot project called SU strings. I have played for the Susquehanna University Orchestra, The Williamsport Symphony Orchestra, The Reading Pops orchestra, as well as countless quartets, a rock band for a nightclub gig, and as a solo artist for musicales, a recital, and on many, many other occasions. I absolutely adore teaching and teach students of all ages and backgrounds!
I have taught violin and piano for the past 25 years to students age 4 and up. At Rowan University, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. I have performed with Bridgeton Symphony, Rowan University Orchestra, Lansing Symphony in Michigan and the Goodnight string quartet. My teachers have included Bertram Greenspan-Rowan University, I-Fu Wang-Michigan State University and Nancy Jan-Bay-Atlantic Symphony. Currently, I play violin with the Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey.
I have always been a musician first and everything else second. I have found fulfillment in sharing music with others as a teacher, performer and music therapist. I graduated in May with my master's in voice from the Eastman School of Music. I hold bachelor's degrees and certifications in music education and music therapy. Currently, I am teaching all levels of voice, beginning to intermediate piano and violin and beginner guitar while I pursue a career in opera performance. I have experience with students of all ages including those with disabilities and on the autism spectrum.
I am a devoted and yearning music lover through and through! My parents brought me up that way as Broadway singers and dancers when I was born in Manhattan and it eventually spiraled me into a passion for performing, teaching and especially, listening to everything I could get my hands (and ears) on. I’ve been playing stringed instruments predominantly since I was 10 years old and went on to study Music Education at Kutztown University, where I played with the KU Orchestra and acted as principle chair for the 2nd violin section. I am now living in Philadelphia pursuing a teaching career and keeping busy by performing with many friends and peers in my community.
Hello! My name is Nikita and I am the violin, viola and guitar instructor with 13 years of teaching experience. I work with international students of all ages and at every skill level. So I am fully committed to the entire range of musical education. Have you been contemplating professional music lessons? You have found the right teacher! I acquired a Masters's Degree in 2011 in the St. Petersburg State Music Conservatory of Russia. For over 20 years of my musical study and career I was not only teaching, but successfully performing in numerous concerts and recitals as a solo/chamber/ensemle and symphony orchestra performer. I am also a recipient of various awards for republic and international competitions, amongst which are the V International Competition, Ukraine, and XXXIII Republic Competition, Kazakhstan. Do you think the lessons should also be interesting and fun? You are right! For the best results you need to enjoy the entire process. That is why my lessons are always easy to understand, interesting and fun. I would love the opportunity to assist in your growth and development in the musical arts. And remember... you are never too young or too old to start!

Music lessons are tailored to the students specific needs. The teacher will work with each student individually to develop a lesson plan that ensures the quickest and easiest path to progress. While working towards the specific goals, there will be lessons in music theory, how to correctly handle the instrument, and how to develop the students own unique skills. While Musika does not mandate a particular style of teaching, if there is a method you are interested in we will do our best to match you with a teacher that specializes in that methodologies.
We love adult students! We have adults who are complete beginners, some who haven't played their instrument in 10 years, and some who are more advanced students looking to take their skills to the next level. The teachers in our network have proven methods to get you the results you desire.
Young students will learn all aspects of playing their new instrument. All children will begin to read music and learn how to handle their instrument properly. Violins are a small instrument that can be comfortable hands. While most adults will play on a standard full size, the violin comes in smaller sizes as well and our network of teachers will be able to assist you on choosing the correct one.
As you start violin lessons, there are a couple different options you can choose as a way to obtain an instrument. Some students can choose to purchase rather than rent, which would be most useful for advanced players. Renting can be done on a monthly basis and will provide you will almost everything you need for your lessons, as far as the instrument is concerned. It is best for young students to rent, as they will need to start with a smaller instrument, and work up in size as they grow.
When you choose in home lessons, you are choosing the most convenient way to include music to your life. By having the instructor come to your home you are saving time, money, and energy! Not only is this a convenient option for busy schedules, but it allows you to learn your instrument in the familiar, comfortable space of your own home.

He is incredibly patient and really customizes his teaching style to the child. Both of my children are learning piano with him; they have learned so much and really enjoy the lessons. In fact, my daughter asked to learn another instrument (guitar) with him and is making great progress with that, too.

Pavel is doing a great job with my 6 year old son. Pavel is doing a great job helping my son focus on technique and rhythm, which is something previous instructors weren't so successful with. Pavel is organized / structured / systematic, which is what my son needs now, but I hope he relaxes a bit as the lessons continue so that more "joy" comes through.

“Lynn is my music hero! She can listen to any song and write down the chords. She will adjust to make it easier or harder whatever your abilities. I have a busy schedule and often don't have time to practice between lessons and she is cool with that. She also will adjust lesson times when she is able which fits my hectic schedule. I'm glad my first guitar teacher "fired" me ....that allowed me to meet Lynn.” - Carol A., M.D., Aug 2015

After signing up for lessons with David L. I knew I made the right choice. Just after a couple of weeks I didn't see him as a teacher but as a best friend. There was always a relaxed atmosphere during the lessons. He was very easy to talk to and he really listen to you. If I ever had a question he would answer. He tailors to what ever you want to do in that lesson. David L. is a great teacher and a friend. I totally recommend him for anyone

There are only a handful of people I count in my life who were great teachers, and Laura is one of them. Her musicianship is so secure as are her technique and personality that she zeros in on my weaknesses and devises exercises to strengthen them, and during the lesson it is not "Do this, no, do that" which is unnerving to a novice. She understands the most important part of study is relaxation, so that is easy to achieve with such a confident and compassionate human. Music is her life and she is eager to share her talent with everyone. A rare find, indeed!

“My son has been instructed by Mark for almost four years. Mark is an outstanding teacher. His credentials are by themselves impressive, but his ability to relate his knowledge to kids is even more so. Connor's ability to understand and read music is fantastic. Mark also knows the performance side of playing drums and has encouraged Connor to actually incorporate his knowledge to play alone and in a band. He is patient and encouraging which is what motivates Connor to work and practice. He is a mentor as well as a teacher. He is superior at what he does and we highly recommend him.” Ro J.

I've been taking lessons from Michael once a week for eight weeks now, and with his help I have made dramatic improvements with my sax. Michael is a funny, nice, patient and all around great instructor. I'd recommend Michael, as an instructor, to anyone who wants to improve their skills and have fun while doing it.

Michael is exactly what I was looking for in a teacher. The first thing he did was to determine what I wanted to get out of lessons, and what my existing skill level is. He is now aiming me in the right direction - and he is clearly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable, in addition to being very easy to get along with. I'm very happy.

Henry is teaching my daughter how to play piano. Henry is an excellent teacher, we really like and appreciate him. His teaching style works very well for my daughter, she is comfortable which makes learning enjoyable. Henry is very patient and I can see that he is passionate about teaching music. Great teacher for sure.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
