As you have read in my other descriptions, I am extremely passionate about teaching and playing violin. I find myself very lucky to be a part of something in which I can share this with the people around me (my students especially). I love students that take the time to practice and to see the importance in music. As I have said previously, I like to collaborate with my students. Read More

I teach out of my home studio in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, as well as through Zoom to students worldwide. I have both a Master's and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where I was concertmaster of the Conservatory Orchestra and the recipient of the full-ride Sergei Barsukov Violin Scholarship. In addition to my private studio, I am an active performer in several professional chamber music ensembles and a Teaching Artist for the Midori Friends Foundation here in New York, as well as on faculty for Elizabeth Faidley Studios. I have been teaching all age ranges for 10 years. My goals are to make technique and performance perfect, and also have an understanding of the music in its time period and what the composer would want. I also encourage students to write their own music, and also improvise. Read More

For beginning students, I use the Essential Elements book 1. This book introduces the student to the instrument in the most practical way while making it fun, and it has the student reading music from the beginning, which I find very important. After this, we go on to Suzuki book 2 and a scale book. Then we move our way through the Suzuki books and start to incorporate more complex scales and etudes. Read More

While most beginning students respond well to the Suzuki method, I also incorporate elements of traditional (namely note-reading) and Dalcroze methods (namely movement, improv, and aural skills) in my teaching. I am also experienced in preparing students for auditions and examinations, such as the Royal Conservatory of Music examination in Canada and ABRSM in the UK. For more information on Suzuki method, please visit https://suzukiassociation.org/about/suzuki-method/ For more information on Dalcroze method, please visit https://dalcrozeusa.org/about-dalcroze/what-is-dalcroze/       Read More

I cater the lessons towards the individual needs of the students.  For beginning students 6 years old and under, I prefer to use Shirley Givens' books, "Adventures In Violinland", along with Suzuki materials through rote memorization.  When the student is 5 or 6 years old or older, I like to use Suzuki materials but supplement with note reading right away.  Also, I love it when a student brings a specific piece of music in that they would like to play, whether it is from the classical repertoire, or jazz, pop, etc. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
