In all of my teaching, I combine my students' interests with the leading pedagogy practices in string education to develop the foundational skills of the instrument as well as a fondness for it. There are several method books that I use such as Suzuki, Schroeder's Cello Etudes, and Fiddler's Philharmonic, however, I tailor each lesson path to each student based on student interest as well as proper sequencing. I generally start with these method books, especially for cello, for beginning students. Read More

I'm a music education major that graduated from Mansfield University in 2016. As a performing musician, I have had the opportunity to perform some of the most demanding pieces for piano solo, as well as collaborative music. As a teacher, I have had the privilege to teach beginner to advanced level students on the piano. Although I enjoy teaching piano, I also study and teach string instruments. I am also a composer and enjoy writing my own music, as well as writing music to help out my students. Read More

My teaching experience started in my undergrad when I began giving individual lessons as well as coaching sectionals from time to time. When I became a TA at Penn State, I would routinely teach students of different levels and backgrounds, giving me a wide grasp of the different needs that individual students have. Throughout the years, I have had experience teaching a healthy variety of students: scientists, bodybuilders, musicians who play other instruments, and people who just have an itch for learning the violin or viola. My favorite quote is: "All students have gifts, they just open their presents have different times." I work with students where they are and at their pace. I start beginners with Essential Elements 2000 for Strings. As students progress I use Samuel Applebaum method books, traditional etudes like Wolfhardt and Sevick, Suzuki books and solo pieces as appropriate. I teach Traditional Classical string instruction. I will work to find pieces that students find interesting and keep my instruction engaging and fun for all of my students of all ages. Read More

I have developed for seven years as one of the most atractive professors for the System of Youth Orchestras of Venezuela (El Sistema) and the Simon Bolivar Conservatory. It aimed to develop the artistic and intellectual capacity of children and young people through the music academy. Some of my students are now part of the most important orchestras in the country such as Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, Teresa Carreño Symphony Orchestra, Youth Orchestra of Caracas and some others have already won scholarships to study abroad. I prefer to teach using the Suzuki books, since I believe it is a well rounded learning of fun music while teaching technique and musical abilities. I expect my students to practice at least 6 times a week. My students are encouraged to practice by ear, to encourage the love for music. If the student is more advanced, they will begin working on Carl Flesch Scales and Wolfhart etudes. I will also hand out music based on the student passion be it movie theme songs, Christian, or Celtic. Read More

I was born in Montreal, Canada and started to learn violin at the age of four, in my grandmother's music school. My brothers and I attended weekly lessons at the school and music was part of our home life. I quickly developed a passion for music and became a more serious student in my pre-teen years. I participated in numerous youth orchestras and had the honor of performing in Carnegie Hall in New York as concertmaster of Cleveland Youth Symphony. Read More
