A much sought-after teacher in the Boston area, Angel inspires each student to be their best. Creativity and hard work are at the heart of his method.
I am an avid enthusiast of teaching all ages, and have extensive experience teaching young children as well as adults. While studying at University of Maryland, I taught viola technique class as part of my graduate assistantship. I also volunteered with the program Artsi Riverdale as a violin tutor for underserved middle school students. I have also had the wonderful opportunity to teach abroad. In the summers of 2013 and 2014, I was able to partake in a collaboration between the non-profit organization MusAid and the Secretary of Culture of El Salvador’s El Sistema, teaching children from many regions of El Salvador and training viola teachers on viola pedagogy. I also have learned a lot from my experience teaching group classes. At Indiana University, I worked as a violin instructor for the Jacobs School of Music’s Fairview Elementary violin project, teaching group classes for 1st through 4th grade.
I believe, that learning music should be enjoyable, rather than stressful. I focuses not just on reading music and playing the notes, but also aural theory, playing without tension both mentally and physically, and understanding the music on an artistic and personal level.
I have performed with various symphony and chamber orchestras, including Yerevan State Symphony Orchestra (viola), Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra (violin), Chamber Orchestra of Yerevan State University (violin, orchestra's concertmaster), Chamber Orchestra of Moscow State University (violin), Chamber Orchestra of Yerevan State Theatre of Opera and Ballet (violin), Chamber Orchestra of Yerevan State Polytechnic Institute (viola).

When lessons begin, students will need to acquire a viola. While most adults will start on a standard full size viola, many children will start with a smaller model. As a child grows, the instrument will need to grow with them, which makes renting an instrument a great option. Any music store staff, or teacher in our network will be able to help you in deciding the right size instrument for the student. Renting can be done on a monthly basis, and allows for less of a financial commitment.
When you choose in home lessons, you are choosing a convenient way to add music to your life. By having the instructor come to your home you are saving time, money, and energy! Not only is this a convenient option for those with busy schedules, but allows for you to learn your instrument in the familiar, and comfortable space of your own home. Learning in an environment where you are at ease is beneficial for both children and adults.
Here at Musika we have adult students that begin taking lessons with us every day. Whether you have been playing for years, or are just beginning on your path as a musician, the teachers in our network will work with you to help you achieve your goals. Our in studio lessons are a convenient option for busy adults, and the teachers will work to further you music education no matter what skill level you are beginning at.
Young students will learn all aspects of playing their new instrument. All children will begin to read music, and learn how to handle their instrument properly, as well as start to learn about harmony and rhythm. Violas are a small instrument that can be comfortable for little hands. While most adults will play on a standard full size, the viola also comes in smaller sizes and the teachers in our network will be able to assist you on choosing the correct one.
Each lesson will be structured differently, as each student is different. While we do not mandate a certain teaching method to be used by all our teachers, if you are intersted in a particular style, we would be happy to find a teacher that specializes in that. All lessons will include learning to read music, learning correct technique, as well as working toward any personal goals that the student may have.

My 4 year old son is quite energetic. Another piano teacher tried to teach him before Peter and could not get my son to listen to him at all. That teacher told me that my son had no interest and that we needed to wait before having my son take lessons. Peter started teaching my son a few weeks later. He quickly developed a great rapport with my son. I was astounded when my son sat down and listened to Peter during the first lesson. Peter has remarkable patience and is a natural working with children. He knows when to follow the child's lead. My son is very interested in how the piano works, so Peter takes the time to teach him about this. He is able to use my son's interests (superheroes, Lego, Star Wars, etc.) to refocus him back to playing the piano. Between lessons, he brainstorms on how he can teach my son better. For example, my son was playing the notes, but not understanding rhythm, so Peter looked into it and came back the next week with a new plan which helped. My son looks forward to his lesson every week. When he hears the doorbell ring on lesson day, he exclaims, "Yay! Peter's here!"

He is incredibly patient and really customizes his teaching style to the child. Both of my children are learning piano with him; they have learned so much and really enjoy the lessons. In fact, my daughter asked to learn another instrument (guitar) with him and is making great progress with that, too.

Caitlyn is friendly, helpful and still holds my high-school aged daughter accountable for practicing. She also makes sure the music technique is mastered correctly during the lessons - they work hard and still have a good time together. I can highly recommend her as a flute teacher. My daughter is very happy & grateful to have found Caitlyn as a teacher.

Ali was an amazing voice coach! She taught in a way that made sense to me, and helped me find the voice placements I needed. I didn't know I could sound like that! My development with her was leaps and bounds rather than tiny dreadful steps that happen when you don't know what's going on! Ali was dedicated to helping me work on an audition for a music scholarship and I nailed it all thanks to her, seriously. I can't thank her enough! She helped me with the tools and confidence I needed to sing in the real world alone rather than just back row in a large choir.

Laura is a fabulous teacher. She explains concepts to me using concrete examples so that I can understand changes that I need to make to my posture, breathing, phrasing, etc. She makes warm-up exercises fun, and she's got a great sense of humor over all. Her teaching style is collaborative, more egalitarian (she respects what I already know and meets me at my level), tailored to my particular interests and strengths, and I always look forward to our lessons!

My son is truly enjoying his lessons with Chris. He looks forward to them and is motivated to practice. Chris is conscientious and shows up on time and whenever he is supposed to. He communicates clearly if rescheduling is ever required and is accommodating when we need to change the day. I would recommend Chris to anyone.

Lindsey has been coming to our house to give saxophone lessons to our 12 year old daughter for about a month. She is an absolute joy. She is extremely knowledgeable, flexible with her schedule, and my daughter thinks she is "fun" and "cool". We would highly recommend her to anyone wanting music lessons. A+

Steve gets you started right away with songs but also goes into music theory and reading music which adds to understanding and appreciation of the music. He is very approachable and you can tell that he absolutely loves music and teaching. It is hard not to be excited about the process of learning with Steve. If you are considering lessons I highly recommend Steve for any level of student.

Angela has been a perfect match-up for me. She is warm and welcoming, and also serious about teaching - she keeps our time focused and on track. What I truly appreciate, as a new singer anxiously preparing for an event, is the confidence she gives me. Angela is very encouraging. I enjoy coming to class.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
