I begin by assessing each student's level, as well as their needs and desires, and then form a plan of action to address those needs. Ive continued giving private lessons as well as masterclasses, sectional work, and marching band coaching throughout college. Teaching is as much of a calling for me as is playing the trumpet. Beginners would focus on essential elements books and beginner packets that cover basics and also have rewarding solo pieces. More advanced students would focus on scales and long tones with etudes for fundamentals and repertoire for solo playing and performances.
