If the student is more advanced I will assign method books such as the Arbans, Clarke, and Charlier books. I also like to incorporate music the student is interested in and wants to learn. I pick the one that suits the childs' needs the best, based on how the first few lessons go. We will then progress through the books and introduce supplemental materials, such as solo repertoire and other extras, once the student shows positive progress. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace and is learning things that interest them on a fundamental level. For the last 2 years I have been teaching private lessons at an elementary school and have been teaching group lessons when asked. During the fall I also have been a low brass technician for a local marching band. Finally I have played in many pit performances for local high schools.
