I have had 25 years of experience teaching both privately and in the public schools of Abington, Mass. Many of my students have gone on to major in music in college. Many have become professional performers in jazz bands, concert bands, and symphony orchestras. I am a very positive thinking person, and always try to have this become an influence on the attitude of my students. I feel that learning to play a musical instrument is an integral part of developing self confidence, and getting along with others. Read More

With beginners, I start with the basics of acquiring the best sound possible, believing sound to be the fundamental building block. I then start with scales, teaching fingering, and basic reading. Of course, my methods depend on the age and level of student I am teaching. Everything varies with each student. The more advanced the student is, the more they will know exactly what they want to learn and how they want to learn. Read More

My teaching started in the final years of high-school. I started teaching trumpet to kids. Once I started college in Buenos Aires(Argentina) in a music composition degree I worked with several masters in a multitude of instruments(violin, flute, trumpet, guitar) which i was able to start teaching and performing live. At the same time I developed a craving for movement practice and martial arts. This 'kinetic' approach allowed me to be much better with my students, analyzing their body and consequently their needs in regards to practice. Read More

If the students already had books from prior music instructor, we pick up from the last lessons after answering questions to make sure the students thoroughly understand the previous lessons from the previous chapters. For beginning students, I've used the Mel Bay's modern bass and guitar methods, James Bastien piano library, Essential Elements for wind instruments, Advanced Rock drumming and Master theory books by Charles S. Peters and Paul Yoder or any music books and online documents download by the the student. Read More

I have taught in a variety of musical settings with a wide range of students and abilities. I have taught independently as well as for organizations such as the Youth Orchestra of Central NJ. In 2012 I worked for Camp Encore Coda where I taught trumpet lessons, directed the Symphonic Band, coached jazz combos, and taught music theory/musicianship class. My experience working as full time music faculty for Camp Encore Coda sparked my graduate research on overnight summer music camp, which has since been presented at three major professional conferences in the music education field at the state, national, and international level. Orff and Kodály are the requirements throughout my college study, which I integrated into my teaching and found it helpful for developing students' sense of music. I am familiar with the major piano teaching system, including Faber, Bastien, Alfred and Baker. I evaluated the student's instinct on the piano at the first lesson to decide which material is good for them. I will encourage them to find the music they want to play, more importantly, I will adjust the music to their level so they can enjoy it more. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, working on every aspect of music: Technique, Music Theory, Repertoire, sight reading skills in a fun a didactic way. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Read More
