I am a professional trumpet player and educator. I am currently an adjunct professor at Richard Stockton University in New Jersey where I teach trumpet and coach a small jazz ensemble. I also teach many students privately out of my home studio. I aim to teach my students the difference between "playing the trumpet" and "making music" and how this distinction is applied to practice. "Playing the trumpet" is a physically demanding task that requires diligent, often tedious practice to become skilled at. "Making music", on the other hand, can be done by anyone at any skill level and is lots of fun. The goal of practicing the trumpet is to become so familiar with the instrument that it becomes an extension of our body and mind, as effortless and automatic to perform as breathing or walking. I strongly believe in utilizing differentiation in teaching music which is why I gravitate towards private instruction. I understand that every student has different learning capabilities which is why I cater each lesson to each student's unique abilities. I work with each student at their own pace to learn and improve upon their skills as a musician. I am always very patient with all my students. I never try to put too much work on the student and always believe you should have more then one chance to get it right. Music is not a test and their is no failing, there is only the end result, which ends when the student makes progress, no matter how long it takes. I like to concentrate on my students abilities and ask that they bring 100% to their lessons as most of the lesson time is spent on the instrument; some lessons may be more informative for students interested inan in depthunderstanding of music theory. I have been singing and playing music all my life, but my instrumental music career began in 1994 when I was handed my first Baritone Horn. Little did I know that i'd spend the next 30 years explaining what a baritone (or euphonium) was to my friends and family. Hello! I have been professional musician and educator since 2015 in Central and Southeast Pennsylvania. In 2018, I graduated from Millersville University with a B.A. in Trombone performance. I then enlisted into the United States Marine Corps band as a trombone instrumentalist, where I served active duty for four years.
