I have taught in a variety of musical settings with a wide range of students and abilities. I have taught independently as well as for organizations such as the Youth Orchestra of Central NJ. In 2012 I worked for Camp Encore Coda where I taught trumpet lessons, directed the Symphonic Band, coached jazz combos, and taught music theory/musicianship class. My experience working as full time music faculty for Camp Encore Coda sparked my graduate research on overnight summer music camp, which has since been presented at three major professional conferences in the music education field at the state, national, and international level. I directly relate my teaching methods to Dr. Jan Kagrice, the founder of Musician's Wellness of North America; an organization that rehabilitates musicians with conditions that affect their ability to play their instruments. I've continued her teachings of a relaxed, observational form of playing, which basically means that my students learn how to play a brass instrument with the least amount of effort possible with the best sound possible. The method is also very body-oriented, with healthy stretches and focus on a sustainable way to play these instruments. Read More

My teaching experience has been quite rewarding and varied over the years. Every student has a unique and special passion that has drawn them into music and I make sure to acknowledge that in order to maintain that spirit even when a task is in front of them. My main focus is the technical aspect of the instrument, helping the student discover how it works for them, so they can shape the music the best way possible. Read More

My teaching is based on the thought that everone can be comfortable with making music. Since comfort comes best when things are fun, I like to focus on music that the student likes. This usually involves improvising as soon as a student knows a few notes, which creates a chance for self-expression and leads to confidence in playing with others. I also place emphasis on phrasing, My experience is that many students get wrapped up in the mechanical process of playing at the expense of musicality. Read More

I love to see students grasp concepts. It is extremely rewarding to see students understand a concept and be able to explain how neat it is to a parent or friend. When I get a new student, I get to know exactly what their goals are. We set long term goals, and we make progress by setting manageable short term goals every week. I inspire the student to reach their goals by providing tools to help, and custom lesson plans that are fun and engaging. Read More

I started teaching when I moved to New York City for School. Teaching lessons has been very rewarding and I have seen my students grow tremendous amounts in music. I have taught all ages and have a different curriculum for different age groups. One of the main points I like to focus on is how playing music is fun and can be a tool to express ourselves. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then i'm not doing my job! Read More
