No two students are the same, and I try to take each student's strengths, goals and preferences into account when designing their custom curriculum. For brass, I devise custom exercises for the player in addition to using classic pedagogical texts such as the Arban's and Clarke books. For piano, I start students off with a combination of scale work and repertoire. All lessons with me will include learning a wide variety of repertoire as well as a fair bit of improvisation, as I believe it is an invaluable tool for developing ears, creativity and musical personality. As a teacher, I like to focus on each students needs as becoming a well rounded musician.  I like to work from a few method books including Arbans, Rubank, and Schlossberg for building up your embouchere as a trumpet player.  We will focus in on technique, embouchere building, jazz improvisation, and music theory. With the trumpet it is extremely important to avoid developing bad habits and to implement proper technique in order for appropriate muscle memory to set in. At any level it is important to ensure that proper technique is understood and implemented. These techniques take a personal touch from a seasoned professional to assess and explain. To further develop a solid foundation of sound fundamentals I work incrementally out of the Arban's Clark technique books. I have spent the past three years living in Miami where I completed my Masters Degree in music education. During this time I was an active trumpet player in south Florida playing with orchestras, brass bands, jazz groups, and quite regularly latin bands due to the popularity of salsa/latin styles in that region. My Bachelors degree was completed in 2006 at the Univeristy of Delware.
