I am an engaging and motivated instructor who enjoys sharing knowledge and passion for music with my students. I have had a varied career, and have performed all over the world in a variety of settings including orchestras, ballet, opera and musical theater/pops. I've played musicals on the Strip in Las Vegas, Dvorak in Bosnia, and operetta in France. I also gave some lessons to a friend who had no prior brass experience, and that experience was the main point in how I developed my beginner lessons. I have studied at Oberlin Conservatory and Rutgers State University and studied with some of the best teachers. I studied jazz trumpet for my bachelor's and Masters degrees. I moved to NYC in 2009 and have performed with artists such as Roy Hargrove, Kim Burrell, Geri Allen and Wallace Toney. I taught at the community outreach program at Rutgers State University and have been a teacher with Musika for 10 years. I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree (magna cum laude). I've performed as lead/solo trumpet with the Blue Lake International Jazz Orchestra on their month-long tour of Europe in 2010. I have performed with the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra and many smaller ensembles.
