For beginning students who are children, I typically start with my own method based on fundamental approach to trumpet playing, such as Arban, Maggio, Collin and Clark methods. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I began my teaching experience at Stokes State Forest Music Camp, in which I was able to coach small chamber groups, band and orchestra sectionals, music theory, as well as one-on-one instruction. However, the most beneficial learning occurs when the students feels they were an active participant in the discovery(ah-ha! moments).
