For the past 20 years, I've studied and performed with keyboards, guitars and woodwind instruments while exploring a very wide variety of music ranging from classical and rock to jazz and avant-garde. Example, I would take a small little line or phrase of music, I would teach them the construct of rhythm, time, tempo, the style, articulation, and then apply the exercises or fudamentals around learning how to play the line properly. My favorite part of teaching was getting students excited and motivated to practice their instrument by exposing them to new pieces that they truly desire to learn. Also, when students were frustrated I loved to find different solutions to difficulties they had, as this would give them a fresh approach and allow them to improve at a faster pace.
