For beginner students in fourth grade or above, I like to work with the method book that their school district uses. Most districts use Essential Elements from Hal Leonard or Standards of Excellence. If the student is also a beginner at reading music, we will focus on music fundamentals and basic theory to build their notation reading skills. I like to integrate songs the students choose, whether it be from a movie or a pop song, to not only reinforce their techniques, but to get the student excited about practicing and performing music. With over 20 years of experience, I have had the opportunity to learn from many different teachers and perform in many great locations. I have been a student of local Philadelphia musicians like Eric Apelt, Al Rochlin and Bill Whitaker. In my college career I was fortunate to have instructors like Dr. Ted DiSanti and former ITG President Dr. Kevin Eisensmith. As a performer I have been a member of many different bands such as Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, Trumpet Ensembles, Quintet/Quartets, Pit Orchestra, Wedding Bands and have performed solo. Read More

Some of my students have wanted to become college music majors and others simply wanted to learn the instruments recreationally. Basically, my teaching will be tailored to that particular student and their particular goals. Read More
