Sound is the most important aspect of trumpet playing, and the good thing is you can practice pretty much anything and still focus on your sound. For beginners I usually supplement their beginner band book with some simple drills from Schlossberg's Daily Drills or some I wrote myself. The Clarke's Technical Studies and Arban's Complete Conservatory Method are great books as well that I use with most of my intermediate/advanced students. Read More

Practice is important to learn the piano. I use the Faber series books, because they use a more classical style approach. I will teach whatever style you would like to pursue. It can include music theory, using chords and scales. The Faber series however does not introduce scales, or key signatures right off. They take it for granted, so I have to side teach using my own curriculum to make up for what is missing. Read More

I started teaching guitar lessons in 1999 (20 years this year!) Since those days I've gotten two degrees and taught at colleges, and private institutions, as well as high school and middle schools. I've found that combining textbook music instruction along with learning to play some of the music the student is listening to keeps them growing and engaged.
