Some students are advanced enough to begin learning from Rochut's Melodious Etudes book, while some may need something easier than that, like Cimera's Phrasing Studies book. I focus hard on the fundamentals of the instrument and don't introduce material that is too hard for the student. Depending on the instrument, I will bring in another method book specific to that instrument book and we will also use some sort of etude book. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, Faber Piano Adventures, Standards of Excellence, and/or any beginning book the student will enjoy. For beginning adults, the Rubank Elementary Method books, the Older Beginner Piano Course by James Bastien, and/or any other books the student would enjoy. Along with those books of instruction, I would encourage students to learn level-appropriate solo repertoire. At the intermediate to advance level, I would encourage the Hanon Virtuoso Pianist book, the Sonata Album for the Piano from Schirmer's Library of Musical Classics, and the Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet and for Trombone.
