My Teaching dates back to my 11th grade year in high school. I've kept a consistent basis teaching children and performing master classes at local school like North Side High School in Columbus Georgia. My teaching career continues in schools from Powder Springs to Chattanooga. I had the pleasure of growing up with a Music Educator father who pushed me to stay consistent in the persuit of my goals. My methodology is somewhat rare, in that I don't have a standardized set of books or resources that I require. I typically focus on fundamentals of musicianship -scales, chords, etc.- as a main focus. as for repertoire, I tend to gravitate to the great American song book/ other Jazz Standards. I will, if I feel the student needs it, assign etudes from various books. I also spend time developing the students ability to recognize and react to sounds that are around. Read More

As a parent, I understand the importance of building up from foundations, and I illustrate that same dedication as I would with my own children through teaching music. I know that everyone learns at different paces, different styles, different ways. My goal is to individualize each musical teaching experience that best serves each student's needs. I meet students at their personal level, and we build from there. In 2012 I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies. Since then, I have moved to Nashville, earned my Master's Degree from Belmont University in 2014, and have began my professional career as a freelance saxophonist. I have had the chance to perform and record in some of Nashville's most historic venues and recording studios. I have over 30 years of teaching experience. I began teaching Music right out of college, instrumental, vocal and general music classes. As a Pastor I still directed musicals and I taught drumers how to play drumset and required them to play for my ministry once they were good enough. I spent many years making my living at teaching instrumental music privately in schools around the area I was pastoring.
