At the age of 9 I was introduced to music and this has allowed me to have a passion for what I love. I enjoy working with students to help them further their dream and walk in their purpose through music. In 2010, I graduated from the University of Arkansas At Pine Bluff with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Performance. During my years In college, I traveled to different cities and states to perform and I really enjoyed presenting my gift to the world. Read More

Because every student is unique, and learns and grows at at different rate, my approach to every student will be different. An emphasis on regularity and time management is essential to a student who wants to grow, so I assign realistic goals for each lesson. My lessons are most often dived into three parts: technical studies, etudes, and solos. Instruments: Saxophone
While I find most beginning band method books to be effective, I often integrate exercises from saxophone-specific texts, such as: Larry Teal's Saxophonists Workbooks, Rubank Method books of all levels, and for more advanced students Rascher's Top Tones and Londeix's Le Detache. I possess a wide knowledge of repertoire across genres, and cater to students' individual interests. While I foster technical development, I place my main emphasis on the students' enjoyment of the music they are performing, and believe that at every age and skill level one can perform confidently given the appropriate repertoire. Above all else, music is supposed to be fun. I want my students to be excited about learning new things each week. Music is also a collaborative practice, so I think it is important for the student and the teacher to play together in a supportive environment to help reaffirm the week's lesson. I understand that each student is different, and weekly assignments will be given accordingly. This will require a reasonable weekly goal so that students can see their progress and feel good about their accomplishments, inspiring them to continue playing and learning. The specific level used will be determined by the student's age. As piano students progress, I will suggest additional repertoire for solo performance and technical study. For late teen to adult students, I get to know my student's interests and musical goals to guide instruction accordingly. This helps to keep lessons engaging and fun despite age or ability level. For all students, I place an emphasis on aural training and sight-reading during instructional time. Read More
